One thing keeps on gnawing at me:
The duelling scene in book 2. It seemed to me as if Snape was perfectly aware of the fact that Harry's a parseltongue. First of all: Why would Snape want to be an assistant to Gilderoy, above all people, if he wasn't up to something? He seemed to have planned to get Harry and Draco fighting against each other and it was Snape's idea to use the serpant conjuring charm that led to Harry being exposed as a parseltongue...and Snape didn't seem a bit surprised. But how could he know? And why would he want the others to know? Ideas?

Maybe he wanted Harry to be avoided by other students because he is a parsel tongue?; I like the theory too, and maybe in future books we will read more about parsel tongue. So who knows, maybe Sanpe did it for a reason we will discover in the future.

I know that it's not fact if it's not in the books, but in the movie, he looked just as shocked and freaked out as everyone else did...

hm, in the movie, Snape didn't tell draco about the charm either...in my opinion, they left out a lot of important things...
It could be true that he simply wnated the others to avoid Harry...but wouldN't he have exposed him earlier, then? Maybe he knew about the basilisk and wanted Harry either to defeat the monster (not likely, I think) or get killed by it... :???: ...my head aches now...:)

I dunno...I still dont' think that he knew that Harry was a parseltounge beforehand.

I think that he just did the snake thing because most people are somewhat afraid of snakes, and Snape wanted, not only to make Harry afraid, but to in a sense humble him by 'saving' him from the snake.

I can't even see how he would have found out before. Harry had only ever spoken to a snake once before, and that wasn't at hogwarts, and I think that if Snape knew, he would have treid to accuse harry infront of everyone, or something like that... :-?

I think, the people who knew that some of Voldemort's power has been passed on to Harry must have known...I think Dumbledore knew it as well

Sorry, I don't mean to spam, but I've just had an idea:
In the book, it's mentioned so many times that Snape is in some way able to read thoughts, especially Harry's...that's where he could have known it from...

Well, as far as we know Snape is not able to read Harry's mind, that only a thought of him (because the way he looks at him, maybe), but it would be definitey amazin if Sanpe is able to do it, Jo can write in next books something about it, beacuse also DD is able to know most things thta happen at Hogwarts, maybe really powerful wizards can know what is happening in other places.

I don't really think that Voldemort knew about the transfer of some of his power to Harry. So, as such, I dont' see how he could have told anyone else... I think that it's just a theory of Dumbeldore's...

Also, I dont' realy believe that Snape can read harry's mind... it's just one of those kid things, like when you were younger how somethings you think that a teacher can read your mind and know exactly what you are thinking, but as you get older and see little kids trying to hide something from you, it's just really obvious because of the way they are acting etc...

Did that make sense??? :-?

I think Voldie new that he transferred some of his powers to Harry. He new that if Harry's blood was used he would be immune to the love touch thing, which leads me to believe that he knew he indeed transferred powers.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the logic there... tehy were two seperate things, weren't they?

I mean to say, we know that it was because of Lily's sacrifice that Vodlie couldnt' 'kill' Harry, but that doesnt' say anything about transfer of power. And since the protection from Lily was in Harry, that blood that Voldie took from him also carried that protection, but it didnt' give Voldie any of his other powers, did it?

Actually, we really dont' know anything about why Voldie accidentally gave some of his powers to harry, do we? just that Dumbledore 'thinks' that it happened?

Yea, I guess I did not say that very good. Ok what I meant is Voldie is a smart powerful Wizard the best student the school ever saw. I just feel that if he new he could be immune if he used Harry's blood that he would have known that some of his powers transferred to Harry after the attack. But I may just be being stupid :) .
