Harry's Parents as Inferi

Postby Tanuki » Thursday 28 July 2005 4:11:55pm

What do you guys think? Will Voldermort use the bodies of Harry's parent's as weapons in the last book?

I was under the impression that the Potter's bodies were blown up or otherwise destroyed when LV's curse rebounded from HP. Didn't Hagrid find Harry in a pile of rubble?

Bodies survive a pile of rubble, the person doesn't. In other words, just because you die, doesn't mean your body is disintegrated

No I don't think he could use their bodies. In GOF it was important to have blood from the enemy so that LV could have Lily's blood run through his veins.

I think he's got all he wants

That's a horrible thought, it would be quite terrible for Harry to see his dead parents as Inferi. Anyway, I don't think that their bodies didn't "survive" Voldemort's attack, doesn't Harry mention their graves at the end of the HBP?

I was very pleased when I read that Harry planned to visit his parents' graves. I assume by this that he must have been told at some point that there is indeed a burial site. I was always confused, because people just crumple down when hit w/ the killing curse, so why was their house destroyed? Perhaps as a reaction to some enormous magic eminating from Harry when he is hit w/ LV's spell. Who knows?
Of course, a fully powerful LV, who has no qualms about killing, could have perfected it by now and so when he kills people.....explode.
I mean, there are plenty of empty graves out there. If there is no body, they can still have a funeral, and bury an empty casket and put a headstone above it.
And about inferi parents, I think it would become a horror story the moment Harry walks up to find two dug up graves at Godrics Hollow.

But you have to admit, it is something Voldermort would do to totally demoralize Harry, using his parents as weapons against him. It would totally scr*w Harry up

It's a standard zombie movie device. Someone the main character loves turns into a zombie, then they don't want to shoot him/her, then someone says "that's not so-and-so, so-and-so's dead!" and then the main character ends up shooting the zombie and crying. Happens all the time.

But, I don't think it'll happen in book seven, even though it would be completely evil and therefore likely for LV to try.

I voted yes, because I just noticed the question is "would" Voldemort use them, not "will" he. I think it might be too much trouble for Voldemort to bother with when he already has plenty of dead bodies to use. Actually...now that I think of it, how do those things work? Does Voldemort have to kill them, or does he enchant them, or are they enchanted by something else? If it isn't hard to make them, then maybe one of Harry's comrades will be killed and almost immediatly raised as an infernus. That'd be pretty interesting.

i really REALLY REALLY hope that doesn't happen, that would be a bit disturbing.... but putting aside james and lily, think of all the members of the order that LV has killed imagine if in the final battle he ordered all of the dead order members to fight off the live order members, i think LV would appreciate a sick, twisted kind of ironic humour in that. and molly seeing her two dead brothers...ugghhh that would be such a horrible thing to write. let's hope that doesn't happen.

But surely a dead person's spirit is simply a shadow of that person's real life?

I can't believe you can dramatically change the views of a dead person like that or that you can put ghosts under the imperius?

Nearly Headless Nick always comes across to me like he would have come across to anyone living at the time he was living.
