i suppose there would be some antagonism between them to become the no.2 since that is a human tendancy, but it hasnt been highlighted yet in the books.

the most faithful follower has to be a fanatic who would blindly follow whatever the master says. hence Bella must be the one. someone like Lucius is more intelligent than faithful, and such people would think of themselves first before their master, which differentiates him from Bella.

Voldemort would know that. i think he has managed his followers: both the fanatics and the powerhungry one quite well.
i am wondering what Voldy thinks Snape is....

For me too, Bella's the most faithful one!
Remember the pensieve trial Harry saw - all 3 Bella's companions were quiet about Voldie (Crouch only pleaded his father) but Bella openly admitted her devotion to Voldie! What a Griffindor courrage - she must have been brainwashed! But I think she's been mental even before she was sent to Azkaban. Why???

Further, let's say Bella is the special one for Voldie too (not in the sense of true love!) - and he taught her the unforgivables himself! So maybe he showed her effects of ''Imperio!'' and ''Cruccio!'' in the most practical way - on herself - so he messed up her brain and got his most loyal servant in the same time - I'm sure Voldie knows how to mix dolce et utile
