A crackpot theory

Postby Groo » Wednesday 19 May 2004 7:54:05am

this has to be the most crackpot theory that i have imagined. even i dont believe or accept it AT ALL. but while thinking during the "Harry's love" thread, this thought just flitted across my mind and i said What the hell? just post it and let everybody see what nonsense the human brain is capable of
(or rather Groo's brain is capable of  )

Lily loved Harry and sacrificed herself for him. so she unwittingly left a bond of protection around him, which prevented Voldemort from killing him.
now in OotP, Fawkes came in the way of Voldy's Avada Kedavra and gave his life for DD. i know that phoenixes are reborn, but technically speaking, even he loved DD and sacrificed himself for this love. so now there should be a bond of protection around DD against Voldemort, shouldnt there?

lol, my belief that i am nuts is strengthened

Eh good thinking...
But I believe for the protection to be casted (DD said it was an anicent spell), that someone who sacrificed his/her life must be related to you by blood and perhaps a very close blood tie, seen in the case of Lily Potter and Harry Potter.
Well, unless Fawkes is a blood relative of DD

Well that would be something DD related with Fawkes. Perhaps JK will try to have DD kiled and then see if he rises from the ashes!!!

It´s to fare fetched of an idea even if it were a good idea!!!

I don't think so, Fawks is living still, it wasn't a great sacrifice unlike that of lillies.
Also Fawks is a bird like thing, i'm not sure if it works the same

I think the blood protection works if anything sacrifices itself to save another and the sacrificer(is that a word?) has to die, it says nothing about not working after the reicarnation of the sacrificer or blood ties. Basically I think this is a good theory.

its really interesting, i havent ever thought of it like that. even though he didnt die, he was willing to and did expire momentarily.

its a thinker. not too sure if it is happening but it is possible

Hmmm... nope, Groo, I don't think so...

It's no sacrifice if you know that in five minutes you'll be reborn again.

I don't think the blood thing had to do with Lily and Harry's blood, but with Lily's and Petunia's blood relation... So, had Lily done that for someone she was completely unrelated to, Petunia would still have been the only person that person would be safest with... now, it's good it was her nephew, because it's virtually impossible to think that she'd take care of a stranger's kid. But I think the charm had to do with Lily-Petunia instead of Lily-Harry.
