The courage it must take to liaison between the 2 most powerful wizards in the world, to spy on LV for DD, to spy of Dd for LV, to be constantly sure that at any moment you could be killed because of one misstep... I'd be offended by being called a coward to if I were him.
But I also think there is more to it, like said early on in this thread. i think Snape had just done the bravest thing in his entire life, he had killed DD. I don't believe he wanted to, I believe DD demanded it of him. Snape knew what would happen to him. The order would turn on him, making him public enemy number 2, but he had to do it for what was right for the cause, for saving himself to go on and keep getting info on LV, to save Draco. Knowing the circumstances before him, he killed DD, the most heroic thing he had ever done, including turning sides and to be called a coward immediately afterwards...
