I was just re-reading Chamber of Secrets....I remember in Prisoner of Azkaban at the end where they keep talking about how it is impossible to apparate and disapparate in Hogwarts. However, at the end of Chamber of Secrets, Dobby disapparates.....is it only witches and wizards who cannot, or did J.K.Rowling make a mistake?

If this has been answered before, I apologize, my memory isn't the best....and I may not have seen the previous answer.

I noticed that, I think DD gave them permissin to appearate in Hogwarts. That or the fact that house elfs are suppose to be really powerful.

I don't think it's a matter of having permission....Hermione has mentioned that it's part of how powerful Hogwarts is, and the magic protecting it....She always talks about Hogwarts, A History and that it's in there, talking about how it's impossible to apparate or disapparate from the school....

Who's Spotty? I think that was meant to a joke anyway..! I think the Elves were given permission to apparate/disapparate because they would not be able to do their duty to clean etc without that ability.

Totally agree. Plus their magic may be more powerful (or different)than the magic at Hogwarts - just an idea.
