Who s RAB ????

Postby Bergdorfblonde » Sunday 17 July 2005 9:08:16pm

Who do you think is RAB ? I thought about Regulus but I don t think so ? It has to be a really great wizard to try to face Voldie like that ? I thought that just Dumbledore was strong enough to 'compet ' with V ..

I was thinking the same, Regulus, brither to sirius, but I have had no luck in finding his middle initial, let alone his middle name... it'll be a while before we find out for sure, of course...

If it is a known character, that is probably who. Whose else's name starts with an r? Remus. Rita. It probably is Regulus or another of Voldemort's underlings.

Regulus was my thought too. His death was never really explained and if he was Sirius' brother then there is a good chance he was quite talented as a wizard.

It could also mean that in bk7, one of the Horcruxes might be in Harry's house, under his very nose.

i really really don't think it's regulus, i'm highly distrustful of any regulus theories. they just seem way off to me. there is a possibility that it's a new character. late in the books i know, but it is a possibility.

or someone we won't guess as easily as regulus black, after all both snape and voldemort have disguised their former selves with aliases, it could happen again.

Maybe, but JKR said in an interview this weekend that no major new character would be introduced. Anyone new would have been mentioned already or else do little to the plot.

She also dropped a hint about Aberforth appearing  .

I am finding it hard to believe the Regulus theory because one would A) have to be highly magically gifted to locate the tricks laid by Voldemort as Dumbledore did, B) would also have to have enough magical power near enough equal to Voldemort to cross the water in the boat as hinted by Dumbledore and C) would have to have been quite clever and knowledgable of Voldemort to know of the cave and horcruxes.

Regulus Black just doesn't seem to fit this for me, and also why would Regulus not just sign his full name if the R.A.B. are initials since supposedly Voldemort would know who had done it? Regulus is just too easy a target I think, a little distraction by J.K. I would guess.

I think it could have been Nicholas Flamel who did it, and R.A.B. could just stand for something else such as a place, event or some such. It doesn't have to equal a name lets not forget... after all, Flamel indeed is dead, knew he was going to die after the stone was destroyed, supposedly had a lot of magical power and intelligence and had a couple centuries of wizarding knowledge which could connect the strings just as well as Dumbledore.

What do you think?

i think people are focusing too much on trying to match the intials of RAB to a person (regulus). RAB could mean anything. we just don't know.

Exactly, I think that we are in danger of restricting the posibilities with our own assumptions; J.K. tends to think outside the box so to speak and it would be so easy to mislead us into thinking R.A.B. are initials when actually they might not be.
