RPG- Hogwarts Spring Dance

Postby Scarlet Lioness » Sunday 24 July 2005 7:14:28am

I was just looking round all of the forum areas...and I came across the Hogwarts Spring Dance...

When you press the link to create a RPG character it says 'Non-numeric scenario number' is it suposed to do that or what???
You can fill in the details for the character but when you press the button at the bottom and it comes back with 'Non-numeric scenario number' again...

Just thought I would point that out even though it isn't an active topic...

The RPG thingy is something that I programed in last year. It was working fine but stopped functioning correctly at some point. I'm not sure if it was something to do with a general board update (which I do when new releases to the forum software are introduced) or an upgrade of PHP (the programing language) which may have been done by the people who ran the old server (Li'l monster). Now that we've moved to hoppy, and I've got full control over the server, I'll take a look at the code again in a couple of weeks to see if there's a workable fix for the RPG section as a whole.

Cool...
Just thought I would point that out, but it also wasn't working before Hoppy came along...hehe!!!

All of the RPG's are like that, I can't make a character profile.

I just ignored it and started writing with any character I felt like. Lucky, too. Before you guys came along I had nobody to use it with.

Yeah, we just play without profiles. It still is pretty fun.

What was annoying was spending 20 minutes making one to find out it wasn't working...

But enough of this, it's not going to fix it so we may as well just stop discussing it until Paul helps out... Might not be for a while, as the RPG isn't exactly the most used forum, but... eventually.

Okay all, it's finally fixed.

No playing now without registered characters, eh. :)

Um... I don't think so. I thought you just could see them on user lookups?

Meh, I don't really know about profiles..... it's kinda hard to memorize all the info on a prof. So why make 'em?

They're helpful in a lot of ways, one of which is seeing the age of the other characters. Age is a lot. Also, the physical characteristics are a big part of this too. Height and weight can mean everything in certain scenarios. Maybe you dont have to memorize them, but if needed, they can be checked for info on a character.
