Half-Blood Prince Rated PG in the USA

Postby DucksRMagical » Friday 9 January 2009 2:12:25am

Most fans thought the last Harry Potter film to be rated PG was Prisoner of Azkaban. Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix both received PG-13 ratings and it was expected that Half-Blood Prince would continue the trend.

Yet, it was revealed last night that Half-Blood Prince received a PG rating. Read more about it at The Leaky Cauldron

What does everyone think? I certainly wasn't expecting this. After reading Half-Blood Prince numerous times, I got the feeling that the movie would receive a PG-13 rating if it did indeed remain true to the book. The book deals with dark scenes that if done correctly, could be considered quite scary. Horcruxes, Tom Riddle's memories, Inferi, and the entire Horcrux trip at the end. Not to mention the battle. Although I have heard that most of that battle isn't going to be shown. And what about Dumbledore's death?

And then there was the whole 's*x, drugs, and rock & roll of Harry Potter' that the director said about the film. I guess that's quite toned down.
