Am I the only one who thought that the GoF film s*cked?

There was

(1) No Dobby
(2) No Winky
(3) No obstacles in the maze
(4) Rita Skeeter wasn't exposed as an illegal Animagus
(5) Hardly ANY Sirius
(6) No Quidditch World Cup
(7) No Veela or build up to the match
(8) Fleur says hardly anything at all
(9) Neville gave Harry the Gillyweed
(10) Crouch was in Harry's dream. Why?
(11) No Dursleys
(12) No big scandal over Rita's articles
(13) No visit to the Hogwarts kitchen
(14) No SPEW
(15) Hardly any Draco
(16) Hardly any Burrow scenes

I could go on but doesn't anyone else think that those were slightly significant to the plot of the book?

Well I have to admit that I did sulk alot about the lack of quidditch world cup because Quidditch is my favourite bit in the movies and games....was most annoyed when I was sat there getting excited and then it cuts out just as the match starts.

Can't really say that I noticed much of the other stuff except the obstacles in the maze...I can see why they have cut them out though, niggly little details that take time in a movie that was already long...there is still time for Hermione to expose Rita, it may happen in the next movie but I doubt it unless its absolutley vital to the plot.

Thing I missed most was SPEW.

You made change your mind after a while you know.

I absolutely hated Two Towers (lord of the rings) after I came out of the cinema but by the time they released the DVD I wanted it and now I actually quite like it. After a while you get used to the idea that some things get deleted to save time or because it would be too hard to explain them or something else to the movie watchers that haven't read the book. You have to learn to separate the movies from the books and not see them as a disastrous murder of the books but as a good fun movie to watch when you feel like watching a fantasy movie or you don't have time to read the books and want to remind yourself of the basic story.

I agree. Although there are things left out that I personally would have liked to have been included (such as Crouch Sr acting all weird when trying to reach DD just before he was killed), there are some that I'm glad they cut - I can't stand Dobby.

To keep the book to one film there was always going to be lots of things left out but I felt they did a better job than on POA where they missed out loads in the Shrieking Shack thats important to the story - that James was an animagus and who the marauders were etc.

I had been so excited about the film for so long (it's my favourite book) I made the mistake of looking at all the video clips as they came out, screenshots etc that were available for the film prior to release that I was sat in the cinema thinking I've actually seen this film! It was disappointing but mostly because I'd seen too much of it already and read all the news articles etc.

This said though, I can't wait for the DVD!!! I know that Ron's Owl; Pig was meant to be in the film so I hope he's on deleted scenes on the DVD as they didn't show it in the film in the end.

I really miss SPEW, and SPEW's so important later too because it explains the decision to not snuff Kreacher.

how can they cut the revealing of rita the beetle! it's absolutly vital for harry's interveiw for the quibbler! and no peeves in any of them! fred and george's escape isn't complete without peeves! and no spew means no elf hats, which means dobby might not clean the gryffindor tower, so harry might not find out about the room of requirement, so no da!
