Question for Prisoner of Azkaban Movie

Postby DragonFiend17 » Monday 14 February 2005 12:34:14am

I was just watching my HP3 movie for the fifth time last night and I just realised...
Do you remember the part when Harry and Lupin are talking about Harry's parents for the first time? and how Lupin said, "Yes, I knew your mother...she was there for me at the time no one else was..."
Did JK Rowling explain that yet? because i don't remember anything else about it... :???:  :(

I wondered about that as well. Yes, they made it up, but why? If it were just for nothing, would JKR have allowed it? What does it mean? Why was she there for him, why weren't James, Sirius and Peter?

Stupid director, I didn't like the film anyway.

I wondered about that line too.

This is a bit of a stretch, but here's my take on it:
I just assumed that must have meant that Lily was the first to find out that Lupin was a werewolf. She would have treated him kindly and taught him that it is nothing to be ashamed of. This would have given him the courage to "come out" to his friends, James, Sirius and Peter who then decided to all become animagi in order to keep Lupin company at night.

JKR has said that books 6 and 7 will give us plenty of backstory, so I guess it is only a matter of time before we find out.

As some people around here (me included) are saying the same, I'd suggest that, in case Lupin dies, we all meet somewhere, build a stake and burn our Harry Potter books.

Why would you be so upset if Lupin died, he'd probably die doing what he wanted to do anyway, protecting James's son

Because we like him! I wasn't being serious about the stake of course. Actually, I don't think Lupin's death would be bad for the story or would make the book less good in my view, I'd just be sad.
