the Malfoys are the best by far!
i was expecting better weasley twins, the ones they have casted don't portray as mischief makers, Dumdledore wasn't justified Ed Harris may have been a great actor but he lacked the "sparkle" and energy that the earlier Dumbledore has in the books!

Snape and McGonagall were excellent. As for Draco - he is perfectly cast.

Lucius was my favourite character though. He is so slimy.

Ron's facial expressions are ALL the same in CoS. Watch it again and for any extreme emotion - surprise, fear - it is the same face.

Fred and George suck. Granted they don't have many lines, but I don't like them and one of them is way taller than the other, making it easy to tell them apart.

Percy is good too. Very pompous.

Branagh was great as Lockhart. He had to be a little older than mid 30s becasue he is the house-witches (or house-wives) fantasy and they are generally older than that.

I didnt really like lupin that much...he was supposed to be more good-looking and sillier

Has PoA been released anywhere yet, because it isn't out in the uk yet so how could Kaizer have seen it?

I really love all the 'baddies' that were cast. Snape, Lucius, Draco and even Crabbe and Goyle were quite perfect for their parts.
Frankly I was and still am quite dissapointed with the perfeormences of the trio. Hopefully by the next films they'll be better. Out of the trio, Emma Watson/Hermione was probably the best.

I ABSOLUTELY agree!!! I can't stand Daniel Radcliffe, and Ron is only slightly better... at least his character is supposed to be a bit of a doofus.

As far as the twins go, I think they could have done WAY better... they are two of the most fun characters, and they come across as idiots in the movies...

I did really like Ginny, though... as long as she can mature into the role later on, since Ginny turns out to be a little less "sweet" than she starts out...

I saw some pictures of David Thewlis (Lupin) recently, and from what I saw, he doesn't look the part I would imagine (I always thought him a lot more better-looking, but still with the "old" look.... I dunno... more of a Ralph Fiennes-lookin guy...) but he could be a great actor, so we'll see. :-)

I'm fine with who I've seen for Sirius (even though my personal favorite wasn't cast, he's American)... He'll be cool...

Ummm... did I go crazy, or did someone in here mention that "Ed Harris" did a poor job of playing Dumbledore???

From the pictures I have seen I really do not like the laughing image of Sirius. I always pictured the laughing that he did when caught to be a cross between amazement that Peter was able to pull off this scam and disbelief that there was now no way to prove his innocence. If he didn't laugh he would have cryed. I just read it as a stress reaction to the situation (that is after I found out that he was innocent)
The picture they have of him laughing in a mug shot just looks like he is completely insane or rather demented. I do not believe that Sirius was ever demented.

The actor I would have chosen for Sirius and really wish they had would have been Viggo Mortgensen (?spelling) ie: Aragorn from LOTR. When I was reading the book for the first time that is who I pictured.

I have yet to see a close up of the actor for Lupin but I don't think I like who they chose. He seems just physically wrong for the part. Who knows maybe he will suprise me.
Smith as McGonagall is bang on target
Felton as Draco very good as was Jason Isaacs for Lucius.
I am a little dissapointed with the look of Arthur Weasley but the actor did a decient jobpotraying his personality.
Molly Weasley rocks.
I never liked Lockhart so I didn't have much of an opinion about the guy playing the part.
Rickman does a good Snape but he is always so good at playing the bad guy.
I will miss Richard Harris as Dumbledore. I have always like him. I hope the new guy can fill his shoes.

Also in the previews to PoA why is Aunt Marge outside and floating up into the sky when Harry blows her up? :???:

Yeah, Ginny does have quite a while to mature since it isn't really until book 5 that she develops a personality.

I agree that Ralph Fiennes would have been a great Lupin! He looks alomost exactly like I pictured him to be! Sirius in my opinion looks a little bit too old. I'm sure Gary Oldman is a great actor but for me he just isn't Sirius - material.

I hope that Michael Gambon will be as good as Richard Harris was as Dumbledore. It's going to be odd not seeing him (Richard Harris) playing the part.

Nobby, how can Lupin be a letdown when you haven't seen the movie yet??? c'mon, give the guy a chance!

I personally thought Kenneth Branaugh (sorry if i misspelled the name) was an AWESOME Lockheart... frankly, I never read the books before CoS the movie came out (that's kind of what inspired me to read the books), and I just think he had the character down pat.

Ginny just has the look I like for Ginny, and I think Bonnie Wright will be able to grow into the character quite nicely.

Yeah I think Kenneth Branagh is great.
I haven't seen the film yet obviously, but Gary Oldman is one of my fav actors I think he will be so good as Sirius Black!
And Alan Rickman is great, playing his usual role
I thought the guy who played Oliver Wood was good.

I have to say that Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) kinda annoyed me because most people (over half the female population) only like him because he was 'hot'. But that's only my opinion.

Alan Rickman is sooo cool! He is exactly the way Snape was portrayed in the books!

 Sean Biggerstaff IS hot... but I think he played the character of Wood well.

Just curious, I loved Rickman as Snape, it was a perfect fit, but has the man ever played a character who ISN'T evil???

Maybe I'm holding the grudge against Sean Biggerstaff 'cause my sister is mad about him and talks about him soooooooooo much, all the time, 24/7. Argh!

Hmmmm, just trying to think of a Rickman film where he was a good guy. Nope, can't seem to think of one. :-(
