I think the 3rd film will be so good - as long as they dont skip too much of it! And i cant wait to see how sirius and lupin do in the film! They are such strong characters and i have them pictured in my mind so much!!

Yeah, my main fear with the 3rd movie, and the rest of them too is how much stuff will be left out, because the books just keep getting thicker and thicker... :(

Yeah, even though most people idsagree with me, I think that they did a much better job turning HP into a movie than LOTR...

honestly, I think they did a very bad job of it... :(

I agree with you on that part Holly, especially LotR 1 was really cr*p!
Apart from the fact that it was boring to death, there were quite a lot of scenes where i laughed my guts out although they were supposed to be dramatic. Part 2 was much better, I think, but the romance stuff was really annoying...they shouldn't have called it 'The Two Towers' but
The Lord of the Rings: Everyone wants to sleep with Aragorn.
I mean, it seems even Legolas does...hehe

But I think the main difference between The HP books and the movies is that the movies are only for entertainment whereas the books are sth to think about

Tell me about it... Arwen (was that her name, Liv Tyler???) was int he book for like 5 seconds, but since Liv Tyler is playng her, they decided to make her part so much bigger?? What was the go with that??

It was like a modern action movie, with some very strange lines in it, which were about the only things to come straight fromt he books!!!

I was really mad the first time I watched both movies, that they stuffed up so much of them, buthte second times, I was bored through no 1, and just laughed my a off through two towers!

Personally i'm not a big fan of the films!
*sorry dont shout* it's just that they dont do the books justice!
ironically tho it was the 1st movie that got me into hp, but since reading the books my opinion of the movies have gone down a bit!

My words exactly. :) Though, while I am not nearly as big a fan of the films as the books, I respect them for what they are . . . adaptations. :)

Like you, violet, I didn't start reading the books until *after* the second movie (I think they're more likely to shout at ME than YOU! ), but since then, the movies simply don't compare. Not for me anyway, but I do respect what they are, and they are certainly not bad. Luckily, this seems to be a pretty respectful Forum and neither of us should get 'run out of town' (even if we're both newbies! haha!) for our posts. :)

Being a critic

Postby master_o_magic » Friday 13 February 2004 6:24:19am

[b]i know im being a huge critic by saying this, but i h8d both the first movies, i think they both lack the realization that the books had.

in the first movie the battle was so much better in the book than it was when the professor and harry were battling, it wasn't how i imagined it and i have read the books a fair few times so i have had the time to read them.

in the second movie after everythings over, hagrid walks into the great hall and annouces how harry saved him and how he wanted 2 thatnk him. i found it a paersonal matter and i would have waited until after to thank harry. i think its jsut personal opinion but thats my impression of the 1st 2 movies.

I hate HP movies too.Actually first one could be a good movie, they just had too work harder, but second is pwek :-( !They just wanted too take as much money they can for a movie with no message!Unlike for the books, which are wonderful, they're like fairy tales, just they're much too real for fairy tales. It is fight between good and evil, but ppl die in it,they die sacrificing themselves for better days. And the movies are stupid and shallow!

FINALLY Someone shares my opinion! YEY! You're sooooo right, Holly. I didn't enjoy the LOTR at all, well at least the 2nd and 3rd part.

Its about time i find someone who agrees with me about the movies. :jump:

THey are shallow and i dont think that Cris Columbus did a very good job writing the script for the first 2 movies.

Thankfully for the 3rd movie there is a new director who does things very differently to Chris. Hopefully he will do a better job.
