i can't be botherd to read the whole thing and i dont know if anybody has already said this but i think that the acting in HP and the PS was cr*p. Thankfully it got better through-out the other movies and im really looking forward to the next movie.

It's probably 'cause Voldemort looks pretty graphic. They also say that blood, kicks up the rating. And Voldemort drew blood from Harry. Book 6 will probably be R because of excessive blood (sectumsempra), graphics (inferi), and romance.

Yeah but I will forgive them for that. For some of them it was only their first acting roles and they were so young. I hear that they also cringe when they see it. Emma was only 10 or something when they started filming PS.

Hmm... I just saw it and I guess the part that kicked up the ratings was when Voldemort cut off Wormtail's arm. It was a little graphic.

Nah, Wormtail cut off his own hand. That'd affect the ratings more than if someone else did it cos this way we're getting into self-harm territory. If it weren't for the fact that it's necessary for a ritual the film would've been a 15 for sure.

Then again though the censors are easily nobbled, like a few years ago when Jurassic Park came out as a PG while Mrs Doubtfire was a 15. Don't tell me gold didn't change hands over that one.

I personally think that children below 13 would probably go with adults anyway or at least with their permission. So if their parents think they are mature enough to watch the film, they should be allowed to.

I thought the film did a pretty crappy job of portraying Wormtail cutting off his own hand. There was no blood at all, and it didn't seem the least bit painful. No scream or nothing. Didn't seem to take much effort to cut the thing off, either.

Yeah, but I suppose they couldn't be too grim about it without recieving shitloads of complaints.

If it got too graphic not enough people would watch it since most of the audience can only watch PG-13. I do agree with the bit about self-harm. But I think what will really kick the ratings up in Half-Blood Prince, is all the kissing. That sort of stuff kicks ratings up higher than graphics. And there was a lot of kissing in HBP.
