ok, here are the rules as stated by dragonmaster in the exhibition quidditch thread, for purposes, i would like to roll the dice and be the person, because someone needs to do it, i'm one of the mods of this forum, so unless friar tuck wants to object i'd like to be the "ref"

quoted from dragonmasgter in the exhibition quidditch thread

each team has 7 players (duh), but they can mix houses (gasp). people don't have to play their position they do on their House team, but they can if they wish. this will not be a roleplay thing, because that would be just too confusing. so, i have devised a way to make it basically a game of luck. (BTW, hermionegirl_09 said it was a good idea). the entire game is played by one person (someone unbiased) to roll two dice many times. for these exhibtion matches, it will be me. so, here's how it goes:

let's say Gryffindor and Slytherin are playing. at the start of the game, i will roll the dice. if it ends up 1-6, then Gryffindor will get the quaffle to start off. if it is 7-12, then Slytherin gets it. now for how to score with the Quaffle:

rolling a 1-4= keeper block / 5-8= score / 9-12= all together miss. no matter what the outcome, the ball goes to the other team.

now for the beaters:

each turn, each beater hits a bludger at another player of the opposing team:

1-6=hit / 7-12=miss

but, you still must find out which player it will hit if the dice read 1-6:

1-2=chaser 1
3-4=chaser 2
5-6=chaser 3
7=hit beater 1 / 8=beater 1 deflects bludger into sky
9=hit beater 2 / 10=beater 2 deflects bludger into sky
11-12=seeker
(if a player is hit by a bludger, then they are out of the next play that they are involved in...basically, they lose a turn)

seeker: need doubles rolled 3 times during game, and then they catch the snitch.

and if you're thinking about how we could roll 1 with 2 dice, i've got it under control:

we roll one dice at a time. if the first one comes up 1, then it's one (unless the second one also comes up one, then you have 2. otherwise, it's one.)

so, i hope that that explains everything. but, instead of just saying: "A 4 is rolled. The quaffle goes to Gryfindor. A 2 has been rolled, and Gyrffindor scores." i will write it out like a quidditch match within a story. [/quote]

yeah, it's kinda confusing, but if you are playing, you don't have to worry about any of the rolling

so the results depends entirely on the dice thrower...so what do we have to do? just sign up as a member of the team?

I have an idea. We have 4 teams going by location (British N. Ireland, British Wales/Scotland, East US, West US or something like that) and those who are underrepresented could be refs/announcers/managers. It still seems problematic.

i say that we have UK/ireland, europe, east US, west US, and anyone who doesn't live there can join any team they want, and so FriarTuck, can i be the one who roles, or do you want it

yeah, we could do that, but i think that instead of doing that, we could even come up with four countries, don't have to be where people are from, maybe just cool countries, like, soy, Fiji, and have people sign up for the teams

it's real easy in here, this is just a basic system, i'm sure paul's will be much more complicated, but you can look at my post on the rule, i think i will be rolling the dice, and then we have to figure out how we are going to organize the teams

How about this: I could make a sticky poll saying out of four regions/countries (Ireland/UK, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, US). People choose which one they want to be on and they have to say it on that thread too. We make team lists there, too.

We can share the one who roles, SG. You do one, I do one, so on, so on, until there's a winner.

Good idea, and if there is an overflow, we can have other teams so no one gets left out!

or a better idea, for each match, i'll do one team and you can do the other, and, how about this, i'll set up the thread, i won't do a poll, it'll be first come first serve with the four regions, whoever signs up gets it, you sign up for which team you want, and what position you want

well, if there is an overflow, we might as well just make more teams, and we can even trade players like proffesional sports teams...
