from looking at the guest map and the nationalities page in the great hall i know we have a lot of different nationalitys here on the board.

As well as inter house quidditch it'd be cool if we could have some friendly international matches as well.?

i know the house quidditch season hasn't started yet but we could have some international friendlies to warm up?

i don;t know
tell me your thiughts

Sounds good, but some places are over represented and other under represented. We's have to have things like:

England
Wales
Scotland
Ireland (North and Republic)
Individual American States or;
Northern States, E, W & S.
South America
Africa

The problem being that the US and UK dominate this board.

Europe would probably be everyone not in the UK
The US would have to be split somehow.
Asia, Africa and S.America would be continental.

perhaps we should go by ethinicity...and those who have mixed blood will just pick one that takes majority (u know, the one you fill in on official forms). So we can have like, irish, english, german, scottish, native american, russian, french, arabic, indian, chinese, japanese, korean, etc.

Of course, but as you are to my knowlege the only one you'd have to be supremely fit to fill seven positions or we's have to combine Australia into am Oceania or Australasia group.

Back to aznwizards point. There is no such ethnic group as English (or Scottish, Welsh or N. Ireland), they all come under the British tag (hence British passports). Therefore this group would probably be overrepresented (I am however unsure as to the specific ethnicities of the British members, so maybe you could have British White, Britsih Afro-Carribean etc. Still seems problamatic.

how about to kick it off we did a 're match' between irland and Bulgaria.

Obvieously not everyone comes from those places, but we could make up teo teams and have a really good game.

i think han's ideas about adopting a nationality for a game is really good.

I'd probably have to join another team, for I, to my knowledge, am the only African-American. Probably Europe( excluding Britain).

Barry: That sounds like a good idea. Of course, I'm for Ireland. We've won before, we'll win again!

12321: I really don't know. What I would do, because you are in the group with no clue, just smile and nod. From my experience, people will think you understand!

maybe we can do the Italian soccer style...or is it Spanish? (i m very poor with soccer news)

Ronaldo in AC Milan, Beckham in Real Madrid...

We can probably choose which teams we wanted to play in the World Cup or some premierships...Puddlemere United etc...

this brings me back to the "exhibition quidditch" thread that wuz started a long time ago....we might as well run it the way the exhibition would run and just form new teams....with the members we have active rite now, i'd think we'd have about 4 or 5 teams?
