The Sorting Hat

Put your requests in here to join Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. You can then enter the Common Rooms for the House of your choice and meet other House members to discuss House matters in private.

Muwahahaha *evil laughters*
Gryffindor isn't full...there are still plenty of seats along the bench
But rock_star you need to have at least 25 posts before the sorting hat can sort you...

and of course, you can leave your fate up to the mighty sorting hat

I'm most wanting to get into Gryffindor, but if it is full then I would just like to be sorted by the sorting hat!
Thanks

None of the house can get full, however this does mean some have more members than others. If you wish to be in Gryffindor that would be no problem after you have reached 25 posts.

Some of the other houses such as Hufflepuff have fewer members than the other houses and Slytherin has few active members despite it's apparent size. But the choice is completely yours! :D

If you wish the Sorting Hat to sort you then you will need to write a short description of yourself so that it may best determine your kindred. Again, this requires 25 posts first.

Look forward to seeing you around :D

oh pooey!
25 posts!?! But I dont even know anyone to post or reply to! That could take forever!!!
I'm not really too concerned in which house I get into... obviously I want Gryffindor because that's where Harry was lol, but I'm not exactly sure! Prehaps if I was to be better in another house I suppose I should go there! We'll see what happens after I have 25 posts - i'll make my decision then! Thanks for your help!

Well if I know the people of this board their would have been a Welcome thread for you and Zonko's and Diagon Alley are good places to meet people.

Don't worry, everyone on this board'll be very welcoming and nice. :D

Hello! I've reached 25 posts and would like to be sorted, but I don't know into which house. I hesitate between Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

I'm told that I'm intelligent, clever (that would be good for Ravenclaw), but I'm also too lazy to do much studying. Griffindor wouldn't be a good choice. I can be brave, but only when it suits me (like when I need to give an example for people to follow me). I also often manipulate people, that's not very good (maybe Slytherin?), like art - literature, music, paintings. I'm loyal and demanding. I guess I slightly prefer Slytherin (Severus Snape :-)), but either choise is fine with me.

Welcome thecheese to Ravenclaw!
You've been sorted and have access to our common room!
Have a lot of fun!

Wildeanne, I think it's best if Paul (the forum admin) decides which house suits you best, if you're not sure.
I'd be delighted if you joined Ravenclaw of course, but I don't think it would be fair if I (kind of) claimed you as a member, just because I saw your post earlier than a Slytherin prefect.

*calls out*
sorting hat, do your job! :P

"Ah good...good....quite a straightforward choice" said the Sorting Hat decisively. "Yes...this one does indeed have much intellect but there's a stronger pull than Ravenclaw here. She's been to the dark corners of Gormenghast Castle and enjoyed the experience....there's a strong empathy with our Professor Snape too. And that slight self-confessed devious side. Yes..yes....we have here a......SLYTHERIN!"

...............................................

Congratulations wildeanne! Happy to say the entrance to Slytherin will now allow you into the Common Room. Have a great time in your new House!

You must have at leat 25 posts. Then you may decide whether (sp) you would like to be (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw) or you may ask paul to sort you. In that case, you must write here some line about your personality.

Dark corners of Gormenghast Castle... I liked that.

Thanks Wildeanne :) I've never read the Mervyn Peake books yet but heard a radio play ages ago (over 20 years ago) which really stayed in my mind as being absolutely unique and brilliant. Actually, Sting, the music person, played Steerpike in it and was very good. There was a TV serial a year or two here in the UK of Gormenghast too which was pretty excellent. I'd love to read the actual books themselves eventually though, and read mervyn Peake's own words and descriptions.

Yes, those descriptions can't compare to the TV serial (even if it's wonderful, I've seen it several times, but Steerpike was too pretty and good for Peake's Steerpike) and Peake's language is so beautiful, very lyrical and also funny, rather grotesque.
