I think what would be a good idea is for each house to decide on two people (one for each position) and then we have an 'election' vote in the Great Hall?

yeah if someone gives us a list of all the people who are running for the positions, the we can narrow it down from there.

What are Head Boy and Head Girl's function? I'd also like to be Head Boy.

Is there any connection to the Head Boy/Girl in the books?
Because there only prefects can become one (if I'm right?)..

Anyway, maybe there should be prerequisites to be a Head Boy/Girl?
(if the position has a real function)

Maybe the prefects could start an 'choose your candidates'-topic in their respective common rooms!

Gecko,

James Potter was a head-boy, I think
but so far we dont know if he was a prefect. Lupin was a prefect to keep an eye on sirius and james.

I need to check my books to be sure but I think jarvan49 is right about James being Head Boy. Currently there aren't any prerequisites or any actual functions to the place of Head Boy or Head Girl so who you vote for can be based on whatever criteria you wish to judge the candidates on, but Gecko's and Gwared's ideas could be considered for the future. Maybe we should have a new (up-to-date) complete discussion and vote on how the choosing of Head Boy and Girl should be made (possibly to start a new way of choosing after the current round of selections seeing as some people have already put their names forward for this round)?

Meanwhile, for the curent round of selections, the candidates so far (in alphabetical order) are:

Head Boy
  • Gower
  • Jotomicron
  • Marcus Baker
Head Girl
  • Broccoli
  • Hermione Weasley

I think we should, like gecko said, first have an election in common room who will represent their house and then in Great Hall,to decide who's going to be Head Boy and Head Girl!

Gecko,

James Potter was a head-boy, I think
but so far we dont know if he was a prefect. Lupin was a prefect to keep an eye on sirius and james.

Yeah,I think Jarvan's right.Everybody thought that in Gryffindor perfects will be Harry and Hermione, but instead of Harry Ron was,and I think that Hermione then said to Harry that he doesn't have to be perfect to be a Head Boy :???:

well I think we have just too many girls compared to boys in our common room, that would not be fair

Why? The head boy has to be male and the girl female...so why would it be unfair? I'll admit there's less choice for the headboy but it's the same in Gryffindor where there's only two active male members, me and Gower.

Like Gwared wrote, there's a lot of girls in our common room, too! And the Head Boy will be a boy and Head Girl a girl.It isn't unfair.

I agree; for now we could do it so that every house has to submit a headboy and headgirl candidate, and once they've been chosen, maybe we could discuss what kind of function(s) the positions can have in the future?

I see broccoli's point though; girls have less chance to become the head girl, than the boys do to become head boy. But as the position haven't got a real function at the moment, it's not the end of the world.
In Ravenclaw the girl-boy ratio is pretty evened out I think.
